The Republic Day Parade begins at 9:30 am.

In a first, an Army couple will march down the Kartavya Path during the Republic Day parade on Friday. Captain Supreetha CT and Major Jerry Blaize belong to different contingents but will be marching together to create history.

The couple, who got married in June 2023, said it was a sheer coincidence that they were getting to march together on the occasion.

Speaking to CNN News18, Supreetha CT said, "Both of us consider ourselves to be very lucky and proud that we got this opportunity to be marching together as a couple."

"This did not happen in a planned way. It is a coincidence. Initially, I gave my selection test and got through. Then my husband also got selected from his regiment," she told PTI.

The couple were part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during college.
