Afghanistan leg spinner Rashid Khan thanked the Delhi crowd for their support during his team's 69-run win over England at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, Khan thanked the spectators at the venue for their support during the game and for keeping him and the team going against the defending champions on Sunday.
Afghanistan defeated England by 69 runs in Delhi on Sunday to produce the first shock upset of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Chasing 285 runs for a win, England were bowled out for 215 runs in 40.3 overs to hand the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side their first ODI World Cup win since 2015.
Khan starred with the ball during England's chase, claiming figures of 3 for 37 in 9.3 overs that included the wickets of Liam Livingstone, Adil Rashid and the final wicket of Mark Wood.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was awarded the Player of the Match for scoring 28 runs in 16 balls and for taking 3 for 51 in 10 overs.
Afghanistan will next take on New Zealand at Chennai on Wednesday while England will face South Africa in Mumbai on Saturday.
