Instagram influencer Zervaan J Bunshah, known for his witty commentaries and Parsi caricatures, has replaced the iconic Parle-G girl on the biscuit packet’s cover in a social media spectacle that unfolded with laughter and banter.
In a recent video that quickly went viral, Bunshah posed a perplexing question to his 123K followers, asking how one should address the owner of Parle-G, all while sharing his confusion with a comical expression and the catchy “Ey ji Oo ji” track from Anil Kapoor's classic 'Ram Lakhan'.
“If you meet the owner of Parle-G, do you call him Parle sir, Mr Parle or Parle G?” read the caption of the clip.
The ensuing exchange between Bunshah and Parle G on Instagram brought forth a playful interaction.
In response, Parle G, known for its timeless biscuits, played along with the banter. The official Parle G account commented, "Bunshah ji, you can call us the OG," and humorously replaced the iconic Parle G girl's image with that of the content creator.
The caption read, "While you figure out what to call the owner of Parle-G, you can call us your favorite biscuit to enjoy with a cup of chai. What say @bunshah ji."
Bunshah, appreciating the gesture, responded with laughter, expressing his nostalgic connection with Parle G biscuits. He reminisced about consuming them as a child, even believing they would make him smarter.
“BAHAHAHAHAHA SEASONS GREETINGS INDEED. Parle G will always be my nourishment growing up, after any excursion, party, gathering, craving, fancy cake mein bhi ingredient rehta hai! I toh ate the biscuits as a kid thinking I'd become smarter. Usme toh kalti diya tum logon ne,” he wrote.
This amusing incident comes on the heels of a similar encounter with Lay's last month. Bunshah, known for his humorous Parsi caricatures, took to Instagram to express his disappointment with the altered taste of Lay's Magic Masala variant. The influencer's video, featuring a comical tirade against the beloved snack, caught the attention of Lay's India.
“What have you done to my Magic Masala? The magic is no longer there. Now, it is meetha masala. This is possibly the worst thing you could have done. Are you out of your goddamn mind?” he had said.
In response to Bunshah's concerns, Lay's reassured him that the Magic Masala variant he loved would return soon, clarifying that the variant he criticized was a limited-edition pack.
“Hello! We understand that India’s Magic Masala has been your favourite, and you want the magic back. This pack was a limited edition, and we intend to add more joy to the life of our consumers. So, don’t worry, we have your back! India’s Magic Masala is coming back,” the company wrote in a DM to the influencer.
Bunshah responded with an enthusiastic "YAAAAAAY!!” and shared the brand's response on Instagram with the tagline: "Ladies and gentlemen, promises have been made."
Users joined in the fun for both instances and left hilarious comments on both clips. The videos went viral prompting the companies to join in the fun and banter.
