Actor Ryan Gosling performed 'I’m Just Ken' from his movie Barbie with 65 other "Kens", Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash and musician Mark Ronson at the Oscars 2024 held in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The hit song was nominated for a Best Original Song Oscar and the performance began with Gosling, dressed in bright pink, serenading "Barbie" Margot Robbie from the seat behind her in the audience, before going up to the pink stage to sing and dance with his fellow Kens.
During the performance, Ryan Gosling also got Barbie director Greta Gerwig and co-stars Robbie Margot, America Ferrera, and his former La La Land co-star Emma Stone to sing along.
The highly-anticipated performance received a standing ovation from the audience including Steven Spielberg.
Reacting to the performance, Variety's co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh wrote on X, "Ryan Gosling fully belting out ‘I’m Just Ken’ is the one of the most incredible Oscar musical performances I’ve ever seen. People were screaming, cheering and gasping inside the Dolby."
After the Oscars, Emma Stone told reporters that she was amazed by the performance. "I was so amazed by Ryan (Gosling) and what he was doing, and that number just blew my mind.”
Gosling did win a lot of hearts with his performance but he missed out on winning the Oscar for best song to singer Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas, who won for their Barbie song "What Was I Made For?"
