A 32-year-old body-modification addict from California, who removed a part of his nose and nipples in the name of body art, claims he is being “harassed” in the streets for looking different.
“People love hating anything different,” Odin told news agency Jam Press while speaking about how others react to his extreme transformation.
He added that he has spent $8,000 over the last 11 years on body modifications, including ribbed genital implants, a branded chest, and tattoos everywhere from his ribs to his eyeballs. In fact, Odim himself inked a few of the tattoos. He shares updates on his self-mutilation and body modification with more than 3,500 followers on Instagram
“I also tattooed my own chest, my own eyes, my gums, and I tattooed my face some, too,” he said.
Elaborating on how he removed the tip of his nose, Odin said it started off as a 4-millimeter hole which cost him only around $80 (about Rs 6,600) at the time before widening it via a biopsy operation to resemble a gaping hole measuring 19 millimeters.
“I have been stretching it bigger for the last eight years or so,” he told the news agency before adding that he often plugs the hole with various pieces of jewellery on which he’s spent about $1,000 (about Rs 83,000).
Odin said that he views his body as a vessel for art but not everybody shares that belief. “I’ve had people harass me on the street,” he told Jam Press. “I don’t ever focus on it though. I just walk by any strangers acting like animals.”
Even his family is not completely on board with his choices. “My family is not terribly fond of what I’ve done to my appearance,” Odin said, adding that it won't stop him from making further body modifications including having his ears pointed and his naval removed.
