A woman was harassed by a Mumbai local commuter at the Prabhadevi Railway Station on Wednesday, after which a journalist recounted the incident on X. The journalist, Jeet Mashru, deeply concerned by the incident, shared photos of the alleged perpetrator and narrated the episode.

The man, seated near the Virar side of the women's compartment around 9:15 PM, reportedly pulled the woman's hand and made inappropriate comments. Frightened by his actions, the woman promptly moved to another location on the station premises. Undeterred, the man continued his misconduct, cautioning the woman against speaking up later.

Mashru, expressing his concern in a tweet, detailed the incident: "Today this creep at Prabhadevi railway station pulled a woman's hand sitting on a bench and said 'come with me.' The woman was scared and got off the bench. When I inquired if she knew him, she said no. The man pointed at her and said 'Baad mei bolna mat tu,' sat elsewhere for a few minutes, and went away."

The journalist urged authorities to take immediate action, tagging the Railway Protection Force, Government Railway Police Mumbai, and emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance at the spot. Mashru refrained from directly contacting the helpline due to the absence of the woman.
In response, the RPF Mumbai Central Division acknowledged the complaint, assuring the public that sufficient uniformed force personnel are deployed to regulate and prevent untoward incidents. Approximately 200 personnel from the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) have been mobilized for passenger safety. Railway staff have been alerted to be vigilant and take prompt action against any such miscreants.

The journalist responded by saying he will check whether vigilance is increased the next day.
