A couple from Gujarat embarked on a rather unexpected journey aboard the Vande Bharat Express, as the husband found himself inadvertently locked inside the high-speed train while assisting his wife with her luggage. The incident, which unfolded during the train's journey from Vadodara to Mumbai, has since captured the attention of social media users, garnering over 1.2 million views and a flurry of amused reactions.
The couple's daughter, known by her X handle @imkosha, took to social media to share the peculiar turn of events. According to her account, her mother was making her maiden voyage on the Vande Bharat Express to visit her in Mumbai. Anticipating an extended stay, the mother arrived at the station with two sizable bags in tow.
As the train arrived at the platform, her father, like any dutiful husband, promptly assisted with the luggage, ensuring his wife's comfort for the journey ahead. However, amidst the hustle and bustle of boarding, an unforeseen mishap occurred - the automatic door of the train closed shut, trapping the husband inside just as the train began its departure.
With disbelief and a touch of humour, Kosha recounted how her father quickly sought assistance from the train conductor to halt the train and facilitate his exit. It was too late, and the train had already gained momentum.
Now faced with an unexpected predicament, both parents found themselves embarking on a unique adventure. While the mother continued her journey to Mumbai, the father was left with an unplanned stop at Surat, searching for a return ticket to Vadodara, dressed in his nightwear, with the family car parked somewhere near the Vadodara railway station.
The incident, though initially alarming, soon became a source of amusement for social media users, who empathised with the couple's unexpected turn of events.
She ended her thread with a picture of her parents, faces hidden, sharing a screenshot of a family WhatsApp group where her father jokes about the incident.
X users chimed in with hilarious responses. “He must be more tensed about car parked in a no parking zone,” one user wrote to which Kosha responded: “that’s what I asked bt he said he has parked in parking lot lo at least that is safe.”
Another user joked: “Your dad must have been looking forward to his bachelor life and he got this.”
A third remarked: “Everyone talked about the issues about that train should have an alarm system and what not but no one realises and talk about the romantic dude (of course your Dad) who intentionally parked the car in proper parking coz he knows he is travelling to spend some quality time.”
Vande Bharat Express is a semi-high speed train operated by Indian Railways in select routes.
