A leopard was spotted in the southern part of Bengaluru in the Bommanahalli Singasandra AECS Layout. Residents in the area were left in shock as the big cat was sighted walking in an apartment parking lot on the evening of October 28th, not far from Electronics City.
This is the second time that the leopard was sighted in the area in two days. Social media posts claimed that the leopard was spotted in Brookefield and Kudlu Gate, near HSR Extension. It was roaming around a prominent private school in the area.
The incident has triggered concerns among the local community, raising questions about the proximity of wildlife to the urban landscape.
Footage captured from Cadenza Apartments in the area provides a clear view of the leopard casually strolling near the apartment complex, making its way onto a road adjacent to the Singasandra main road.
The sighting has ignited discussions on the increasing instances of human-wildlife conflicts as urban areas expand into previously untouched habitats. Local authorities have been alerted, and efforts are underway to ensure the safety of residents in the vicinity and capture the wild animal.
Wildlife experts have pointed out that such encounters are often the result of the shrinking natural habitats for these animals due to rapid urbanization.
According to reports, a total of four leopards were seen in and around the city in December 2022.
