Journalist finds cockroach in Air India Delhi-New York flight meal: 'Suffered from food poisoning'

Suyesha Savant wrote about the incident on X and it prompted a response from the airlines. Air India asked for her booking details and said that the matter would be investigated.

A journalist has claimed to have had food poisoning after she found a cockroach in an omelette served aboard Air India New Delhi to New York flight. Suyesha Savant said that she noticed the insect after she and her two-year-old child had nearly finished the meal.

Sharing the incident on X, she also tagged Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and civil aviation minister K Ram Mohan Naidu.

"Found a cockroach in the omelette served to me on the Air India flight from Delhi to New York. My 2-year-old finished more than half of it with me when we found this. Suffered from food poisoning as a result," Sawant wrote. It prompted a response from the airline. "Dear Ms. Savant, we're very sorry to hear about your experience. Please share your booking details via DM so that we can investigate promptly," Air India wrote, and added in a separate post that the matter would be investigated.

Previous incidents: Air India flyer finds stone in meal served on flight

In January, another journalist flying Air India claimed to have found a stone in the meal she was served on the flight. Sharing photos of the stone on Twitter, the passenger said that this kind of negligence by the airline was unacceptable.
