An IRCTC pantry staff was recently caught on camera selling Rs 15 Rail Neer bottles of mineral water for Rs 20 at an express train running from Gandhidham Junction in Gujarat to Kamakhya Junction in Assam.
A clip shared on X shows the staff first selling the bottle to commuters for Rs 20 and on being questioned why he was charging Rs 5 extra, the man fumbles and later returns the change to the commuter.
The incident appears to have taken place aboard Kamakhya Express.
Responding to the first post shared on November 28, Railway Seva responded.
The citizen's forum that shared the video, however, on January 6 claimed that no action was taken.
The Railways have been receiving flak ever since the festive season due to poor service, maintenance, delays, and crowded trains.
In a recent incident, a man from Kanpur had to resort to taking an intercity cab to not miss a connecting train after his first train ran late by nine hours. Despite having a confirmed Tatkal ticket, X user @vinodepurate paid Rs 4,500 for the cab ride to his destination.
"The train that I have to take at 1.15 pm at Kanpur arrived 9 hours late. I had to catch Rajdhani at Jhansi at 8.15 pm. So I came to know about (the train being) late at 2 pm. I have no other option other than taking an Ola for Rs 4,500. And the Tatkal ticket was bought for Rs 1,500. Total Rs 6,000 loss," the user wrote on X.
