The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards are underway at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. 2024 is shaping up to be the year of "The Bear" - Hulu's acclaimed comedy series is sweeping the Emmys with six wins so far. Giving it tough competition is "Beef" - also with five wins. John Oliver and Trevor Noah are among the other big names at television's biggest night this year. Take a look at the winners so far:
As expected, "Succession" won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, beating bigwigs like "The Crown" and "The White Lotus."
One of the most-awaited awards - the one for Outstanding Comedy Series - went to "The Bear." This is the sixth win for the show tonight.
The Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series went to Sarah Snook for "Succession".
Kieran Culkin has won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in "Succession."
The Emmy for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series went to "Beef". The show has won five Emmys tonight.
The Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie was bagged by (no surprise) Ali Wong for "Beef".
Steven Yeun has won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role in "Beef".
The Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) went to Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium. The special beat The Oscars and Rihanna's Half Time Super Bowl show to take the trophy.
With this win, Elton John has entered the elite EGOT club - the exclusive and small list of people who have an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony Award to their name.
Mark Mylod bagged the Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for "Succession." The show has three wins tonight so far. This is also Mylod's third Emmy win and eighth nomination.
Lee Sung Jin bagged his second Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, again for "Beef."
The Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series went to Jesse Armstrong for "Succession."
Paul Walter Hauser won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role in "Black Bird." This is the first Emmy win and nomination for Hauser.
The Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie went to Lee Sung Jin for "Beef."
The Emmy for Outstanding Talk Series went to "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah". "I told you we would beat John Oliver if he wasn’t in our category!" Noah exclaimed as he accepted the award.
"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" won its second Emmy for the night - this time for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
"RuPaul's Drag Race" won the Emmy for Outstanding Reality Competition Program. The show has been nominated 63 times at the Emmys.
The Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series to Christopher Storer for "The Bear." Storer also won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, again for "The Bear."
Niecy Nash-Betts won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for "Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story."
"I wanna thank me, for believing in me, and doing what they said I could not do," a visibly emotional Nash-Betts said while accepting her award.
The Emmy for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series went to "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver". The show received four nominations this year. John Oliver accepted the award with a characteristically funny speech, which he ended by thanking Jesus and his family.
This makes it the eighth consecutive Emmy win for "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver"
Jeremy Allen White won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for "The Bear." This makes it the third win so far for "The Bear" at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.
The Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series went to Ebon Moss-Bachrach for "The Bear."
Matthew Macfadyen won the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role in "Succession." The win was hardly a surprise - Macfadyen's portrayal of Tom Wambsgans was critically acclaimed. He thanked his onscreen wives Sarah Snook and Nicholas Braun in his acceptance speech.
This is Macfadyen's second win for "Succession."
For her performance in "The White Lotus," Jennifer Coolidge took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. This is her second Emmy win for the show.
Quinta Brunson won her first-ever acting Emmy. Brunson took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in "Abbott Elementary." The 34-year-old grew teary-eyed as she accepted the award.
Ayo Edebiri won her first Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for "The Bear"
