Musician Grimes has revealed that her ex-partner and father of her children tech billionaire Elon Musk shared a private photo of her during a C-section procedure with close friends and family, including her own father and brothers.
Musk's biographer, Walter Isaacson, provides insights into this situation in his upcoming book, for which Grimes has been speaking to the writer. The couple has secretly welcomed a third child, a son named Techno “Tau” Mechanicus.
"He was just clueless about why I'd be upset," Grimes, 32, told Isaacson, according to excerpts obtained by People magazine.
This disclosure is just one facet of their relationship, which began in May 2018 and ended in March 2022. Despite their breakup, the pair has remained close, particularly due to their shared responsibility as parents to their 1-year-old daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, affectionately known as "Y," and their 3-year-old son X Æ A-12, or "X" for short.
Grimes recently took to Twitter to express her frustration, responding to a photo of Musk's twins, Strider and Azure, with Shivon Zilis, a mutual acquaintance. In her tweet, she implored, "Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer."
She further revealed, "I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart."
The secrecy surrounding the twins, born in November 2021, had been a point of contention. Grimes later deleted the tweet and sought to "de-escalate the narrative," acknowledging that there had been communication breakdowns in the past regarding the twins.
Grimes shared her conversation with Shivon Zilis on Twitter, emphasizing their desire to become friends and ensure the best for their children. She also issued an apology to Walter Isaacson for her initial reaction.
Shivon Zilis responded positively to Grimes' overtures, expressing her hope for a closer friendship and playdates for their children.
Elon Musk, who has 11 children with three different women, including ex-wife Justine Musk, remains at the centre of this narrative.
