Chennai residents have had their normal lives disrupted over the past few days as Cyclone Michaung caused havoc across India's southern coast, leading to heavy rains in various parts of the city and leaving infrastructure such as roads, buildings and other key landmarks submerged in varying levels of water.
Several social media users shared videos of the impact caused by the rains in different parts of the city.
Many residents shared videos of the situation, which looked bleak to say the least, with some criticising the prevailing infrastructure in the Tamil Nadu capital.
Leading landmarks such as Chennai airport and Marina Beach were flooded due to the rainfall. The ground situation led to the former being shut down until 11 pm on Monday night.
