With the Centre abolishing Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 bank notes in a bid to tame black money, there are fears that more ingenious among black-money holders might use the temple route to get rid of their ill-gotten wealth.

News agencies reported that the office of Maharashtra’s Charity Commissioner has directed authorities at pilgrimage centres to open donation boxes only in the presence of authorised personnel.
