Cheer for Mumbai developers as BMC plans to cap FSI at 2

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has proposed the rationalisation of Floor Space Index (FSI) across Greater Mumbai in the latest draft of its development plan. The FSI, which is the allowable constructable area as a proportion to the area of plot of land, will be capped at 2 for residential projects across Mumbai. South Mumbai currently has a base FSI of 1.3 while the suburbs have an FSI of 1. A higher FSI would benefit developers as they would be able to construct more on same-sized land plots. The state government is going to approve this draft development plan in 60 days time and has meanwhile asked the citizens to send their feedback to the draft.Watch video for more.
