Nupur Talwar's bail hearing: how the day unfolded

Murdered teenager Aarushi's mother Nupur Talwar will spend Monday night in the Dasna jail. She finally surrendered in front of a CBI special court in Ghaziabad in the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case. Nupur Talwar approached the sessions court against the CBI court order that cancelled her bail plea, but the sessions court too reserved the order till Tuesday.

Hours after the Ghaziabad court hearing the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case rejected her bail application, Nupur Talwar surrendered before the court. Her lawyer argued that she should be granted bail as she is a woman and also Aarushi's mother. Those were tense moments for Nupur, who continued to pray throughout the hearing. The CBI rebutted Nupur saying her crime was heinous and she cannot emotionally blackmail the court by saying that she is Aarushi's mother because her domestic help Hemraj was also killed on the same night. The magistrate later rejected her petition. At 2 pm, Nupur Talwar moved the sessions court seeking repreive. Her lawyers requested the court to let her off on interim bail. But the court refused. Nupur Talwar will now have to spend the night in Dasna jail. She hasn't got any relief as yet and till the time the her bail application is pending with the court, she will have to remain in barrack no. 13 of the Dasna jail. On Tuesday, the sessions court will continue to hear her regular bail application. In case the sessions court rejects her plea, Nupur has the option of approaching the High Court and then the Supreme Court. Her legal team couldn't prevent her from being taken into judicial custody, but now they will make every effort to make sure she gets out as soon as possible.
