The Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi witnessed its first-ever wedding, marking a historic moment. The grand occasion was the wedding of CRPF Assistant Commandant Poonam Gupta, whose dedication and commitment to duty had impressed President Droupadi Murmu. Recognising her service, the President granted special permission for the ceremony to be held at the prestigious venue, making it a landmark event.

The wedding, held on Wednesday night at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s Mother Teresa Complex, saw Poonam Gupta tying the knot with CRPF officer Avneesh Kumar. The couple received blessings not just from their families but also from the President herself, who attended the ceremony in person. The event was attended by close family members and a select group of dignitaries and VVIP guests.

For the historic occasion, Poonam Gupta chose a traditional red lehenga. The lehenga was embellished with golden motifs, sequins, and intricate stonework. The groom, CRPF Assistant Commandant Avneesh Kumar, opted for an off-white sherwani, complemented by a golden-bordered matching stole, creating a perfect contrast.

Poonam Gupta, a native of Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, joined the CRPF in 2018 after securing the 81st rank in the UPSC CAPF examination. Currently posted as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at Rashtrapati Bhavan, her exemplary service led to the unique privilege of hosting her wedding at the country's most esteemed residence.
