On the eve of Valentine’s Day, a police officer in Peru dressed up as a life-sized teddy bear to lure out a woman suspected of dealing drugs. The ploy worked, and officers managed to arrest two drug dealers while seizing their drug stash.
According to the Associated Press, the Peruvian police officer disguised himself as a character from the animated series Care Bears and reached the drug bust bearing gifts and a heart-shaped balloon. Other policemen disguised themselves as workers to lure out the drug dealers in Peru’s Lima area.
Upon seeing the teddy bear with the gifts, the alleged offender left her house and walked down an outside staircase, which led to her arrest.
A wild video shared by the police force shows the woman’s arrest playing out. She was filmed being handcuffed by the giant teddy bear. The video also shows the woman being led away.
Police said that more than 1500 portions of cocaine paste were found during the arrests.
This method has been used by the Peru National Police's Green Squadron to perform various arrests in the past. Last Christmas, one of their officers disguised himself as Santa Claus to catch criminals.
