Canada police rule out foul play after Indian employee's charred remains found in Walmart oven

A month after an Indian immigrant teen working with Walmart in Canada was found burned to death in one of the company's walk-in ovens, the police have ruled out any foul play in the "complex" case. Gursimran Kaur, 19, was cooked to death inside Walmart’s large walk-in bakery oven in Halifax and her charred remains were discovered by her mother, who also worked at the superstore, on October 19.

“The police investigation determined the death is not suspicious and there is no evidence of foul play,” the New York Post quoted the Halifax Police Department as saying. “Investigators met with family to share this update and extend condolences. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time.”

Kaur and her mother had been working at the store for over two years and the incident matter came to light after the teen did not receive her mother's calls for over an hour. The mother, who is also an immigrant from India, initially thought that Kaur was probably helping customers in a different part of the vast store. But she became increasingly concerned after the teen stopped answering her phone.

Panicking, the mother began to look for her and opened the oven door--after another staff member noticed “leakage” coming from the area--to witness the traumatic scene.
