Bengaluru woman files case against US-based husband for not letting her eat french fries

A 29-year-old woman from Bengaluru has filed a complaint against her US-based husband for not letting her eat french fries, rice and meat, to avoid gaining weight. The matter has reached the Karnataka High Court which observed that only object of the complainant appears to be stopping her husband--who is currently in India--from travelling back to the US, The New Indian Express reported.

The woman complained that when she delivered a child, she had high blood pressure and the husband did not allow her to eat french fries, consume rice and meat, saying she would put on weight. The 36-year-old husband, on the other hand, said he did all the household chores during their stay in the US while his wife only watched TV and chatted with her family over the phone. He said he would wash dishes, mop the house before heading off to work every day. The husband also said that he had to move to court because he was on the verge of losing his job due to the complaint filed by his wife.

Meanwhile, the judge said it is surprising that the police as to how the jurisdictional police generated a Look Out Circular (LOC) at the wife's behest on such trivial circumstances.

Justice M Nagaprasanna said that allowing any investigation against the husband would become an abuse of the process of law and put a premium on the wife’s trivial allegation. He ordered an interim stay of all further investigation till the next hearing.
