A Rapido customer claims he was held hostage by a Bengaluru auto driver

A Bengaluru man claims he was held hostage by a Rapido auto driver over a payment issue. Omang Agarwal took to the social media platform X to raise a complaint against the driver and the ride hailing service after receiving no help from Rapido customer support.

In his post, the Bengaluru resident claimed he was “held hostage” by the Rapido driver because there was an issue with his UPI payment. He said he had a broken leg and breathing issues because of which he could not escape the autorickshaw. In the end, he had to call the police to escape.

He shared a screenshot of his conversation with Rapido Support. “Please call me. I have been kept back in auto by the driver. The driver is not letting me get off the auto. I have a foot fracture and lung infection. I’ve been locked in the auto for 1 hour+ now,” Agarwal told Rapido Support.

The screenshot does not show Rapido’s response, if there was one.
Agarwal called out Rapido’s lack of security features on the app, noting that he had to call the police to finally escape.

“I was held hostage by Rapido rider for hours and they had no security feature to help me,” he tweeted. “He had an issue with the UPI payment. I've a breathing issue and broken leg, I couldn't escape.
