Actor Aamir Khan’s daughter Ira married her longtime boyfriend Nupur Shikhare in Mumbai on Wednesday. The superstar hosted the couple's close family and friends at an intimate ceremony.
The simple wedding ceremony, following by a reception, was held at Taj Lands End in Mumbai's Bandra.
Ira Khan, 25, is the founder and CEO of Agatsu Foundation that works in the mental healthcare sector. She founded the organisation in 2021 following her diagnosis with clinical depression six years ago. Nupur Shikhare is a celebrity fitness trainer.
The bride wore a lehenga with a dupatta covering her head. The groom, meanwhile, ditched the traditional sherwani and safa (headgear) and instead, wore a pair of shorts and a black vest. Photos and videos of Shikhare jogging from his home in Santacruz to the wedding venue are viral. He later danced along with his friends to dhol beats outside the venue. Videos showed Nupur and Ira signing the marriage documents, surrounded by their families and friends, while the guests cheered for them.
Close family members at the wedding included Aamir Khan's ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. Khan has two children with Reena Dutta - Ira and Junaid. With Kiran Rao, he has his youngest child, son Azad.
The couple will have another wedding ceremony in Udaipur on January 8, followed by a grand reception in Mumbai on January 13.
