Rahul Gandhi's call to increase the cap on the number of subsidised LPG cylinders from a yearly 9 to 12 per household, may not be good economics, but possibly expected in an election year. More so when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has seemingly been successful in setting the economic agenda on populism, first with free water in Delhi and then the promise of cheaper electricity. The AAP though doesn't consider this populism but just ''economic moderation'' from a previous position of what it calls extremist economic reform that benefitted just a few.
