Battle for the states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur has kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Exit polls paint a rosy picture for Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh and Congress still is dealing with crisis. In conversation with CNBC-TV18, BJP spokesperson Syed Zafar Islam said that the question of a post poll alliance between Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) doesn't arise as BJP will win the state elections with two-thirds majority. He also said that the outcome of assembly election results will not have a bearing on the reform agenda of the government. The debutant Aam Aadmi Party is making its way in Goa and Punjab and AAP leader Pankaj Gupta believes that the party will win 15 seats as against the prediction of five seats by various exit polls. "Congress will not do good in Goa. Anger towards Congress is too much," he said. He also hinted at no Congress-AAP alliance in Goa. In an interview to BBC radio, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav gave an indication that if the situation calls for it then Samajwadi Party will not shy away from holding BSP's hand for an alliance. To this, BSP party leader Ritu Singh said that the Mayawati-led party will come to power without any merger and ruled out any possibilty of an alliance with SP.
