Imagine an India vs Pakistan cricket final at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. The biggest rivalry in men’s cricket, never less than a scintillating Hollywood blockbuster, will be a dream match-up for more than 5.4 million and growing South Asians in the United States.

Coming on the eve of the high-voltage Cricket World Cup ODI clash between India vs Pakistan at Ahmedabad, the International Olympic Committee Executive Board’s decision  to recommend cricket among five disciplines to be included as one of the five additional sports for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 (LA28) is a definite shot in the arm for the game, globally.

The Olympic Hockey Rivalry

A contest between India and Pakistan, in the history of the Olympics, has largely remained confined to field hockey for men. The arch-rivals have played in seven Olympic finals between them with Pakistan winning four times, India twice and one ending in a draw.
