The Election Commission has announced phase two of the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union Territories between November and February. According to its directive, voters will have to fill out a fresh enumeration form as part of the exercise from November 4.

Phase two of the SIR will cover approximately 51 crore voters across the 12 states and UTs. These are:  Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Voters in these places have the next three months to ensure his/her name stays on the electoral roll.

Key dates of SIR rollout

Enumeration (house-to-house forms): November 4 – December 4, 2025
Publishing of draft electoral rolls: December 9, 2025
Filing claims and objections: December 9, 2025 – January 8, 2026
Hearings/verification: December 9, 2025 – January 31, 2026
Final rolls to be published: February 7, 2026
