Udaipur Files movie row: Centre withdraws order for cuts after Delhi HC questions its power

As the film was set to be released in the theaters on June 11, the producers have obtained the new date of August 8 amid the row over its certification.

The case pertained to the pleas filed by Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind President Maulana Arshad Madani and Mohammed Javed (one of the accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case) objecting to the film's release

The Central government has acceded to withdraw the cuts from the film 'Udaipur Files: Kanhaiya Lal Tailor Murder', as the Delhi High Court on Friday (August 1) questioned the Centre's power in exercise of which it ordered six cuts to the film.

According to a report by LiveLaw, the government agreed to withdraw the cuts and undertook to decide on the film certification by August 6 (Wednesday).

As the film was set to be released in the theaters on June 11, the producers have obtained the new date of August 8 amid the row over its certification.

A division bench of Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela asked the producer to appear before the government on Monday at 2 PM and make their submissions.
