Telangana is doubling down on its ambition to cement Hyderabad’s position as India’s fastest-growing tech hub.
According to PTI, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Monday announced that the state aims to set up 120 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) within the next year, generating 1.2 lakh new jobs in emerging technologies.
The announcement came as global investment management giant Vanguard inaugurated its New India Global Value Centre (GVC) at Knowledge Park in Hitec City, marking another marquee addition to the city’s expanding global portfolio.
“Hyderabad has become a hub of trust, integrity and innovation,” Sridhar Babu said, adding that Vanguard’s choice of Hyderabad underscores the city’s “talent, stability, and global competitiveness.”
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka also attended the event.
Vanguard joins Hyderabad’s elite global club
Vanguard, with over $6.4 trillion in assets under management, joins a growing list of top multinational firms that have chosen Hyderabad for their innovation and technology operations.
The newly launched centre will focus on AI-led engineering, cloud modernisation, data security, and digital platform development — signalling Hyderabad’s deepening role in the global tech supply chain.
According to the government, seven of the world’s top asset management companies already operate from Hyderabad, collectively managing over $30 trillion in assets.
‘Rising Telangana’: Skilling to match scale
The Minister stressed that Telangana’s strategy goes beyond attracting foreign investment, it’s about creating future-ready talent.
“We will skill, reskill, and upskill local youth in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, cloud engineering, and cybersecurity,” Sridhar Babu said.
This aligns with the state’s broader effort to link global hiring demand with local education and build a workforce capable of powering the next phase of digital transformation.
“We invite international industry leaders to be partners in the story of Rising Telangana,” he added.
Infrastructure push: CM Revanth Reddy’s tunnel vision
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reiterated his government’s commitment to accelerate key infrastructure projects, including the 40-km Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) Tunnel Project, billed as the world’s largest of its kind.
The Rs 4,600-crore project will irrigate 3 lakh acres by lifting 30 TMC of water from the Krishna River, the CM said, pledging compensation for affected habitations in Marlapadu, Keshya Tanda, and Nakkalagandi.
Reddy criticised the previous BRS government for stalling the project “for political reasons” despite it being sanctioned in 1983.
