Heavy rains that drenched various parts of Telangana on Sunday caused widespread flooding in low-lying areas. People in several places were grappling with the situation on Monday morning though there had been some let up in the rains. The floods have killed nine people in 24 hours while five others are reported to be missing.
The IMD said that extremely heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad district on Monday. In view of heavy rains, the Cyberabad Police here requested all IT and ITES companies to encourage 'work from home' on September 2.
Due to the forecast of heavy rains in Hyderabad district, a holiday has been declared for all primary and secondary schools, under all managements (government, aided and private) on September 2, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of the children, officials were quoted by PTI.
Scientist, dad on way to Hyderabad airport swept away
A man and his daughter belonging to Khamma district were swept aways in flash floods while they were on their way to the Hyderabad airport. Nunavut Motilal, 50, was dropping his scientist daughter Nunavut Ashwini, 27, to the airport as she was flying off to Bengaluru.
