Latest satellite images from the Bholari airbase in Pakistan suggests that repair work is being carried out at the hangar that was heavily damaged during Indian airstrikes last month.
Damien Symon, a geo-intelligence researcher at The Intel Lab, posted a satellite image on his X handle showing tarpaulin covering the hangar at the airbase.
The tarpaulin, which is basically a waterproof sheet used for protection, could suggest that some sort of restoration activity is likely taking place at the base.
"Recent imagery from Bholari Airbase, Pakistan indicates that the hangar damaged in the Indian airstrike is now covered with tarpaulin possibly signaling repair activity/restoration is now underway," Symon said.
Earlier, Kawa Space had shared bomb damage assessment (BDA) images of the Bholari base which showed visible impact on a hangar.
The company had attributed the damage to a strike by an Indian missile. The strike had caused a hole in the rooftop of the hangar and severe damage inside.
Located less than 100 miles from Karachi, Bholari is one of Pakistan’s newest airbases that has been designed for both naval and air roles.
It was one of the strategic airbases targeted during Indian strikes, along with others like Nur Khan and Rafiqui.
The damage at the airbase severely undermined Pakistan's coastal defence capabilities and disrupted future force projection plans, leaving Karachi more vulnerable to potential strikes.
The Indian armed forces on May 10 launched retaliatory airstrikes on 11 Pakistani airbases in response to the drone and missile attack from the neighbouring country.
Earlier, the chief minister of Pakistan's Sindh province had admitted that the strikes by India at Bholari led to the deaths of six air force staff members.
The bold response by India proved to be the turning point in the conflict, forcing Pakistan to initiate hectic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
