Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday hit out at Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of speaking like an “urban Maoist” and alleging that the Congress leader had urged Gen Z to overthrow a democratically elected government.

Fadnavis’s remarks came a day after Gandhi renewed his attack on the Election Commission of India and reiterated his charge of “vote chori.”

In a post on X, the Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition had written, “The nation’s youth, the nation’s students, the nation’s Gen Z, will defend the Constitution, protect democracy, and stop vote theft. I always stand with them. Jai Hind!”

Reacting to this, Fadnavis told reporters, “Gandhi has asked Gen Z to come together to overthrow a democratically elected government… It is not ‘vote chori,’ but Rahul Gandhi’s brain has been stolen. He has no trust in the Constitution and rejects institutions. He spoke like an urban Maoist by saying that Gen Z should come together to overthrow a democratically elected government.”

He further alleged that Gandhi’s advisors had an “urban Maoist mindset,” while adding that India’s Gen Z “believes in the Constitution, has built the start-up ecosystem, and understands technology.”
