PM Modi to respond to debate on Constitution in Lok Sabha on December 14: Reports

Announcing the decision last week, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju briefed media, saying: "The debate on the Constitution will be held on December 13 and 14 in the Lok Sabha, and 16 and 17 in the Rajya Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to reply to the debate on Constitution in Lok Sabha on December 14, according to media reports. Additionally, Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to speak in the Upper House on December 16.

Last week saw a major breakthrough between the Centre and the Opposition in Parliament, as MPs of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have agreed to hold a debate on the Constitution to commemorate its 75th year of adoption.

The decision to partake in the debate by the Opposition and the treasury bench came after Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla chaired an all-party meeting early last week.

The debates will be held on December 13 and 14 in the Lok Sabha, and on December 16 and 17 in the Rajya Sabha.
