As the Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, Purnea MP Pappu Yadav has once again extended his support to the Congress, claiming that the BJP and Chirag Paswan’s LJP (Ram Vilas) are conspiring to edge out Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from the NDA.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav said, “The way BJP and Chirag Paswan have isolated Nitish Kumar to maintain their strike rate, I don’t think Nitish Kumar will remain in the NDA after the elections. Only Congress will give Nitish Kumar the respect he deserves.”
The independent MP alleged that the BJP and LJP are working strategically to weaken Nitish Kumar’s position within the NDA. Yadav remarked that they are aiming to sideline Kumar, adding that Congress is the only party where the Bihar Chief Minister would be treated with dignity.
Pappu Yadav also heaped praise on Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. According to him, the Congress’s ideology is resonating strongly with marginalised groups in the state. “Backward classes, Dalits and minorities are aligned with the vision of Rahul Gandhi. They are tired of issues such as unemployment, large-scale migration, and atrocities against women,” he said.
The Purnea MP claimed that during his visits across several constituencies, he found widespread resentment against the NDA government. “I have visited so many constituencies… everywhere people are saying NDA leaders are sleeping at home,” Yadav said.
Bihar is set to go to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14.
