One dead, 25 injured as Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express derails near Nergundi station

At least one person has been confirmed dead and 25 others injured after 11 coaches of the Bengaluru-Kamakhya AC Superfast Express derailed near Nergundi station in Cuttack district on Sunday, according to a report by Times of India.

The incident took place at approximately 11:54 am in the Cuttack-Nergundi railway section of the Khurda Road division under East Coast Railway (ECoR). Senior railway officials, including the General Manager of ECoR and the DRM of Khurda Road, arrived at the scene. Accident relief and medical trains were also sent to the location, as per an official statement from ECoR.

Railway officials, including the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for Khurda Road and the General Manager of East Coast Railway, have arrived at the scene. An accident relief and medical train have been dispatched to assist. "Efforts are being made to transport stranded passengers to their destinations," said the Railway authorities.
