'Mummy, papa, forgive me ... I could not do it’: Dejected with JEE results, student dies by suicide in Uttar Pradesh

In a shocking incident in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, an 18-year-old engineering student died by suicide on February 12 after failing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). A suicide note, in which she apologised to her parents, was found at the scene.

The note read, “Sorry mummy papa, forgive me… I could not do it...” Aditi Mishra, a student of Momentum Coaching Centre in Betiahata, was preparing for the JEE for the past two years.

According to an NDTV report, on the day of the incident, she had spoken with her parents, asking her father to recharge her mobile, but she felt disappointed.

After the JEE results were declared the previous day, Aditi, feeling devastated by her failure, hanged herself in her hostel room. She was sharing the room with another girl at the Satyadeep Girls Hostel in Gorakhpur.
