West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, on Wednesday, called for a departure from the BJP's 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. The BJP leader highlighted a new direction, stating, "We no longer need to talk about Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. We will stand with those who are with us".
At the BJP state executive meeting in Kolkata on Wednesday, Adhikari stated, "Previously, I spoke about nationalist Muslims, and you too mentioned Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. But I won't say this anymore....Stop Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Minority Morcha is unnecessary".
Additionally, he asserted, "We will protect Hindus and save the Constitution".
Adhikari introduced a new slogan, "Jo hamare saath, hum unke saath," for the party to advance after its setbacks in the Lok Sabha election and subsequent by-polls. The Bengal LoP's stance, however, marks a departure from Prime Minister Modi's coined slogan.
Adhikari attributed the BJP's by-election losses to thousands being disenfranchised in Bengal. He alleged that in the Lok Sabha elections, millions of Hindus were similarly prevented from voting. The Bengal LoP also launched a portal on Tuesday where voters can register complaints if they were denied the opportunity to vote.
He took to microblogging site X to make the announcement, "As promised, I have launched a portal where disenfranchised voters can report. We will ensure their confidentiality".
In the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP's seat count in West Bengal plummeted from 18 in 2019 to 12. Adhikari faced criticism from some BJP leaders due to his involvement in selecting candidates for approximately 30 seats.
