The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on October 1 that India is likely to see above average maximum temperatures during October.

Most parts of India are likely to receive average to above average rains in October-December, said IMD, adding that 2024 monsoon season ended with 7.6 percent more rainfall than normal.
Rajasthan, Gujarat, west Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh got excess rainfall, said IMD.
October's rainfall is projected at more than 115 percent of the 50-year average, said Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, director-general of IMD.
India received 11.6 percent more rainfall than average in September, following 9 percent and 15.3 percent above-average rainfall in July and August respectively, the IMD data showed.
