The Punjab Police, on Saturday, confirmed the extradition of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Parminder Singh, alias Pindi, from the United Arab Emirates, terming it a major breakthrough in cross-border counter-terror operations.
Pindi, a close associate of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia, was brought back from Abu Dhabi after coordinated efforts between Punjab Police, central agencies, and UAE authorities, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said.
The accused faces multiple charges, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion in Batala and Gurdaspur. His extradition was carried out swiftly after a Red Corner Notice was issued at the request of Batala Police.
DGP Yadav, taking to microblogging X, said a four-member Punjab Police team led by a senior officer travelled to the UAE on September 24. Acting on the Red Corner Notice, the team coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities, completed all legal formalities, and successfully brought the accused back to India to face justice, he added.
He added that the successful extradition highlights Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and organised crime, as well as its advanced investigative capabilities and global reach. Yadav also thanked the MEA, central agencies, and the UAE government for their “invaluable cooperation in this joint effort to uphold justice and strengthen national security.”
