DUSU elections tomorrow: 21 candidates in fray, over 2.7 lakh students to vote | Know the details

With the highest-ever number of students eligible to cast their ballot and strong female contenders for the president’s post after nearly two decades, this year’s contest is attracting attention both within Delhi University and at the national political level.

The stage is set for a high-stakes elections at Delhi University with a total of 21 candidates for the top posts of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) in fray.

The DUSU elections are scheduled for Thursday, September 18, with more than 2.75 lakh students eligible to vote in one of the country’s largest student elections. The results will determine the leadership of the students’ body for the year ahead.

The administration has rolled out strict arrangements to ensure smooth polling. According to reports, “more than 600 police personnel will be stationed across the campus. Out of these, 160 officers will use body-worn cameras.” Along with this, CCTV surveillance and drones will be used to monitor campus activity during polling.
