Coronavirus Omicron India Highlights: India reported 3,33,533 cases today, slightly lower than the 3.37 lakh daily cases recorded on January 22. The fresh cases have taken the total caseload in the country to 3,92,37,264. The country also recorded 525 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country, as a result of COVID-19 cases, to 4,89,409. The daily positivity rate marginally rose from 17.22 percent to 17.78 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 16.87 percent.

Coronavirus Omicron India Live Updates |  Nagaland reports 107 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally at 33,585 


Nagaland on Sunday reported 107 new COVID-19 cases, 14 less than the previous day, pushing the tally to 33,585 , a health official said. The death toll remained unchanged at 705 for the second consecutive day, he said. Nagaland now has 685 active COVID-19 cases, while 30,862 people have recuperated from the disease, including 54 in the last 24 hours. The COVID-19 recovery rate came down to 91.89 per cent from Saturday's 92.02 per cent.

Coronavirus Omicron India Live Updates | Jitendra Singh reviews COVID-19 situation in his Lok Sabha constituency in Jammu and Kashmir

Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh on Sunday virtually reviewed the COVID-19 pandemic situation and other related issues in his Lok Sabha constituency in the wake of the third wave of coronavirus. He held the meeting with deputy commissioners, DDC Chairpersons and SSPs of the Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said in a statement.Singh -- Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science and Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space -- enquired about the availability and functioning of dashboard in districts for real time updates and also issued fresh instructions to deal with the surge in cases. District Collectors, SSPs, DDC Chairman of Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Reasi, Kishtwar, and Ramban joined the review meeting along with other district officials.The minister was informed that most of the cases in the third wave have remained asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic with flu-like symptoms which lasts for four to five days and then dissipates. Singh underlined that there is no room for complacency and all COVID-19 related norms and protocols must be followed in the strictest possible manner.

The severity of the COVID-19 outbreak during the third wave is low as compared to the second wave and the death rate has remained at an average of one individual succumbing to 1,000 cases, a senior Tamil Nadu government official said on Sunday. Unvaccinated individuals and those eligible to receive the 'precautionary booster dose' also pose a risk to contracting the contagion and this has emerged as a larger point of view of the medical experts who met here, Health Department Principal Secretary J Radhakrishnan said here.
