Swiggy in May had laid off 1,100 employees across grades and functions in cities and head office as part of its exercise to realign resources to create capacity in higher potential areas with the optimism of the business attaining pre-COVID levels in the near-term.
"However, with the industry still only having recovered to about 50 percent of its peak, we have to, unfortunately, go ahead with this final realignment exercise, which will result in the net loss of 350 jobs," Swiggy said in a statement.
The company is concluding the exercise it began late May and there are no plans for any further restructuring.

Google may allow employees to work from home till July 2021
Tech giant Google is planning to keep the work-from-home option open for its employees till as late as July next year, The Wall Street Journal has reported quoting sources.
This comes at a time when the number of coronavirus cases across the world continue to surge, especially in the United States, where around 70,000 new infections are being recorded daily.
Earlier this year, CEO Sundar Pichai had said the company would gradually resume work at its various offices, on a rotation basis, starting July. He had said, "Beginning July 6, assuming external conditions allow, we’ll start to open more buildings in more cities.
This will give Googlers who need to come back to the office—or, capacity permitting, who want to come back—the opportunity to return on a limited, rotating basis (think: one day every couple of weeks, so roughly 10 percent building occupancy)."

Now, a device to kill coronavirus — this Bengaluru manufacturer gets approval from FDA, EU
Scalene Hypercharge Corona Canon (Shycocan), a device with the ability to contain the spread of coronavirus, has received approvals from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Union (EU). It is developed by a Bengaluru-based organisation called De Scalene.
Shycocan is built like a small drum that can be fit into offices, schools, malls, hotels, airports, or any closed area for disinfecting surfaces. It is proven to be 99.9 percent effective in neutralising the Spike-Protein or S-protein that are present in coronavirus.
While it cannot cure an infected person, it is highly effective in containing the spread of the deadly virus.
The device floods a room or any indoor place with hundreds of electrons. So even if an infected individual were to walk into the room, these electrons would neutralise the potency of the virus present in aerosols while sneezing or coughing.

COVID-19 confirmed in pet cat in the UK
The UK’s Chief Veterinary Officer has confirmed that the virus responsible for COVID-19 has been detected in a pet cat in the UK. The infection was confirmed following tests at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA) laboratory in Weybridge on Wednesday 22 July.
Although this is the first confirmed case of an animal infection with the coronavirus strain in the UK, there is no evidence to suggest that the animal was involved in transmission of the disease to its owners or that pets or other domestic animals are able to transmit the virus to people.
All available evidence suggests that the cat contracted the coronavirus from its owners who had previously tested positive for COVID-19. The cat and its owners have since made a full recovery and there was no transmission to other animals or people in the household.

Virus vaccine put to final test in thousands of volunteers
The world’s biggest COVID-19 vaccine study got underway Monday with the first of 30,000 planned volunteers helping to test shots created by the U.S. government -- one of several candidates in the final stretch of the global vaccine race.
There’s still no guarantee that the experimental vaccine, developed by the National Institutes of Health and Moderna Inc., will really protect.
The needed proof: Volunteers won’t know if they’re getting the real shot or a dummy version. After two doses, scientists will closely track which group experiences more infections as they go about their daily routines, especially in areas where the virus still is spreading unchecked.
“Unfortunately for the United States of America, we have plenty of infections right now” to get that answer, NIH’s Dr. Anthony Fauci recently said.
