The Central Bureau of Investigation searched the residence of Aam Aadmi Party’s Gujarat leader Durgesh Pathak, reports said on April 17.
According to reports, the raid was in connection with FCRA violations.
The Aam Aadmi Party has termed the CBI action as vendetta.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that the same thing had happened during the last Gujarat elections when AAP leaders had been arrested. "Due to the last Gujarat elections, the BJP central government had started arresting the leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party. And now that Durgesh Pathak has got the responsibility of Gujarat, today the CBI has raided his house," Bharadwaj said in an X post.
Meanwhile, AAP national secretary Sandeep Pathak said that the CBI raids at Durgesh Pathak's residence have come days after he was appointed co-incharge of the forthcoming assembly elections in Gujarat. Sandeep said that the raids are indicative of BJO's view of AAP as a "growing threat".
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia also reacted to the CBI raids. "CBI raid at Durgesh Pathak’s house as soon as he got the responsibility for Gujarat elections 2027! This is not a coincidence, this is a conspiracy born out of BJP’s fear. BJP knows that only the Aam Aadmi Party can challenge them in Gujarat now – and this truth has shaken them. The echo of fear is clearly heard in the knock of CBI," he said.
AAP leader Atishi said that the raids started as soon as the Aam Aadmi Party started preparations for the Gujarat elections. "In Gujarat, only AAP can challenge BJP and this raid shows their frustration. In all these years, BJP has not understood that we are not going to be scared of their threats," the former Chief Minister said.
