Amid ongoing power tussle in the southern state, Karnataka BJP is considering moving a no-confidence motion against the Congress government during the upcoming Belagavi legislature session, asserting that the ruling party has “lost the trust of the people as well as its own leaders.”
Former BJP minister V Sunil Kumar on Thursday said that the matter will also be discussed within the NDA partners, according to a report by the Deccan Herald.
While talking to the reporters, Sunil Kumar launched a scathing attack at the government, alleging administrative paralysis and deep internal rifts within the Congress.
He said that Karnataka has seen “no real governance for the past two months,” accusing the government of functioning in a “Dushyasana style” without accountability. Nearly 90% of ministers, he claimed, were absent from Vidhana Soudha, Deccan Herald reported.
Earlier on Tuesday, Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra said the state does not want "acting or outgoing CM", and urged the ruling Congress to settle its leadership tussle before the winter session of the legislature begins in Belagavi next month.
Noting that the government will be unable to address the concerns of the people and farmers during the session, if the infighting in the ruling party continues, he suggested postponement of the session if the Congress leaders are unable to resolve the leadership change issue, PTI reported.
Karnataka power tussle
As the Congress government in Karnataka completed the halfway mark of its five-year tenure on November 20, the power tussle within the party has intensified over a possible change of guard in the State, with a section claiming that this is as per the rumoured "power-sharing" agreement between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar in 2023.
A decision in this regard is expected to be made before December 1, when the Winter Session of Parliament is slated to commence.
