Karnataka Police has issued summons to the wife and family of Bengaluru software engineer Atul Subhash, 34, who died by suicide on Sunday. Police have given them three days time to appear before Marathahalli Police Station.
The notice was issued to Atul's wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, her brother Anurag Singhania and her uncle Sushil Singhania.
According to an NDTV report, based on a complaint by Atul's brother, Bikas Kumar, a four-member team of Bengaluru Police arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur, which is the residence of the Atul's wife, and pasted a notice.
"There are reasonable grounds to interrogate you to ascertain the facts and circumstances. You are directed to appear before the investigating officer at Bengaluru within 3 days," reads the notice.
Detailing his allegations in a 90-minute video and a 24-page suicide note, Atul had accused his wife, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and wife’s uncle of extortion and years of emotional distress.
“We are not guilty of what happened. We will come out with all the proof soon. We have done nothing wrong. We regret Atul’s death,” the family of Nikita Singhania has said.
