Bengaluru is likely to get 368 wards after the Karnataka government on September 30 published the draft ward delimitation notification for the Greater Bengaluru Area (GBA), covering five municipal corporations.
Of the five corporations, Bangalore West tops the list with the highest number of wards. As per the draft, Bangalore East will have 50 wards, Bangalore Central 63 wards, Bangalore South 72 wards, Bangalore North 72 wards, and Bangalore West 111 wards. However, it provides neither a map nor details on the population and size of the wards.

The Greater Bangalore Administration Act, 2024, came into effect on May 15, 2025. A Ward Re-Delineation Commission was formed on September 2 to redraw wards for the five corporations. Its report, submitted on September 30, has been accepted, and the draft notification is based on the 2011 Census. On September 2, the Karnataka government notified the formation of five municipal corporations, replacing the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which earlier had 198 wards.
The government has invited objections and suggestions from the public. Interested persons may submit their inputs in writing, with full address, signature, and reasons, to the Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department, Room No. 436, 4th Floor, Vikas Soudha, Dr BR Ambedkar Road, Bengaluru - 560001, by 5pm on October 15, 2025. The Urban Development Department will review the submissions received within the stipulated period and finalise the ward-wise constituency redivision.
