A Zepto delivery agent has been caught on CCTV allegedly assaulting a customer in Bengaluru’s Basaveshwara Nagar following a dispute over a mismatched address. The incident took place on May 21 and has since gone viral after CCTV footage surfaced online.
The video shows the accused, identified as Vishnuvardhan, physically attacking the customer, Shashank, outside his residence. The altercation reportedly began after a woman, believed to be a family member, received a delivery and went inside. Moments later, Shashank appeared and confronted the delivery agent about a purported address issue. The conversation quickly escalated into a violent brawl.
In the footage, Vishnuvardhan is seen punching Shashank repeatedly—seven times in total—even as his family members attempt to intervene. At one point, Shashank tries to photograph the accused's two-wheeler number plate, prompting another woman to snatch the phone away from him.
Shashank later claimed that the assault left him with a fractured lower eyelid and a possible skull fracture. Doctors have advised surgery if his condition doesn’t improve within a week.
Following public outrage, Zepto issued a statement on Instagram expressing regret over the incident. “We deeply regret what happened and are investigating the matter. We are taking necessary actions and will continue to support the affected customer,” the company said.
The Basaveshwaranagara police have registered a complaint and are currently searching for the accused.
