The incident took place on Wednesday night in Siddhartha Nagar of B Savaram village, located under Rajolu mandal. According to the police, Shamma had recently started suspecting Pushpa of having affairs with other men. He reportedly pressured her into prostitution and frequently picked fights with her while under the influence of alcohol.

Around 10 pm on Wednesday, a heated argument broke out when Shamma once again insisted that Pushpa accompany him for sex work. When she refused, he allegedly attacked her with a knife, stabbing her in the chest and leg.
