Union Home Minister Amit Shah hit out at Pakistan and said that there are people on the neighbouring country's soil who spread terror in India.
"I can say this with certainty that now it's established that there are people on Pakistan soil who spread terror in India," he told Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi in an exclusive interview.
Shah was responding to a question on a report in The Guardian about India orchestrating killings of several individuals in Pakistan. "Who killed is something that has to be found out," he added.
According to the report, the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW), which is directly controlled by PM Modi's office, had undertaken the strategy to 'eliminate terrorists on foreign soil'.
He also responded to The Washington Post article that named a RAW official in the plot to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on US soil.
"One should not think so seriously on basis such media reports. If there is any concrete allegation, the agencies will respond to it. If any government discusses with us through diplomatic methods, we will respond to it," Shah told News18.
India on April 30 strongly rejected the claims, saying that the Washington Post report made 'unwarranted and unsubstantiated' imputations on a serious matter and that an investigation into the case was underway.
Addressing another western media report on electoral autocracy in India, the Home Minister said that, "Leave aside all conspiracies. I am saying this with great pride and confidence that our democracy, our democratic values, and our election; all three are the most transparent in the world, and the most trusted".
India has been one of the 'worst autocratisers' in the world in recent years, Sweden-based Varieties of Democracy Institute said in a report released in March 2024.
