The United States on Friday said that it aligns with India on the view that Pakistan is supporting terrorist groups. In a briefing, US State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that it is obvious citing the dynamic in Middle East as an example.
"Obviously in today's world, that's a call that we have been making for decades. It is the dynamic that we've seen in the Middle East disrupting lives and clearly what happened in Kashmir is awful and we've all send our condolences. The world has rejected the nature of that kind of violence...," Bruce said.
However, Bruce also called for de-escalation amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
"But at this moment of time there is one thing that has to stop, which is the back and forth and a continuation of this and that is what we are focussed are on right now," she added.
Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated on May 8 as several locations in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan, particularly Jammu Airport, which also houses an Indian Air Force station, and Pathankot Airbase came under attack after Pakistan resorted to heavy artillery shelling along with drone and loitering munition attacks.
Bruce said, as we have seen in that region or in the Middle East, War has never been a solution, diplomacy is the solution.
Meanwhile, Indian Armed Forces earlier on May 8 reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military.
