Ride hailing platforms Uber and Aaveg have reportedly got a licence from the Delhi transport department to operate "premium bus service" in the city.
Aaveg is an app-based shuttle service in Delhi, Gurugram & Noida.
A Times of India report said Uber would start the services soon. Aaveg would begun operations after the Lok Sabha elections, its CEO Vivek Laroia told the daily.
The buses will be air conditioned and have facilities like WiFi, GPS, CCTV, panic button and reclining seats.
The Delhi government in October 2023 approved a premium bus service scheme to reduce intracity use of private vehicles and help reduce pollution.

Currently, Uber Shuttle operates in Kolkata. The company has been running a pilot in Delhi since 2023.
The scheme says an aggregator should take measures to ensure the safety and security of women passengers and provide a rapid response mechanism, including a panic button on its mobile and web-based applications that should be functional at all times and have modalities of API-based integration with law enforcement agencies for prompt redressal of complaints.

An Uber official said commuters would be able to book bus rides through Uber app and would also be able to reserve seats a week in advance.
